Metro League Division 7

05/10/13 Bird Avenue

Tallaght made it two from two in Division 7 of the Metro league with a hard-fought win away to Stillorgan. Tallaght went behind to a Stillorgan try early on but showed great composure to work their way back into the game. Alan Bernes scored Tallaght’s only try and the rest of their points came from the boot of out-half Ciaran Stewart. Former club president Gregg Behan was there in support and he was delighted with how Tallaght played as a team.

“First and foremost we had a team out there today. It was great to see the pride, passion, commitment and how they worked for and supported each other in an all-round fantastic display. I’d love to pick out a few individuals and say something nice about them but that would mean leaving others out, because this was a team performance and all congratulations should go to the coach and his team equally. Everybody walked off that pitch today with their heads held high, knowing they played their part in a great win.”

Tallaght are now in second place in the table behind leaders Old Belvedere only on points difference. They face Old Wesley at home next week at home in Tymon Park (kick-off 3PM) and afterwards the team and supporters will be going to the Old Mill bar to watch the Leinster versus Ospreys Heineken Cup match and everyone is welcome to join them.
