Tallaght’s women’s team took on Trinity College at home looking to follow up their first win of the season last week. They got a great start when Tosin Omiyale scored a try after great work from the Tallaght pack. Caoimhe Young converted and Tallaght led 7-0. However Trinity had an outstanding centre who scored two tries before half time for Trinity to lead 10-7. Tallaght were playing some great rugby though and Catherine Murphy and Anne Kavanagh were tackling like demons.

After the break, Trinity’s speedy centre scored another try to lead 15-7 but then Tallaght hit back when an excellent run Audrey Fulham was finished off by Tosin Omiyale for her second try of the game. Caoimhe Young kicked another conversion and Tallaght were within a point of Trinity. However injuries were beginning to take their toll with Tallaght with Omiyale, Marissa Crane, Aisling Cusack and and Aoife “Spicebag” Davoren having to leave the pitch injured.

The absences took their toll and Trinity scored two more unconverted tries to run out 25-14 winners. However Tallaght can take pride in a gutsy performance.
