Tallaght’s 2nd team hosted St. Mary’s in their first league game of the season. The first wasn’t great for Tallaght as they struggled to find much rhythm. Marys scored two tries and converted one of them to lead 12-0 at halftime. Marys kicked a penalty which increased their lead to 15-0 but then Tallaght fought back when number eight Aaron Morgan broke through for a try that was converted by Daryl Keogh to make it 15-7. Then Morgan forced his way over again, bringing to back to 15-12. Tallaght were dominating now and had their chances to snatch a victory but they couldn’t take them and Marys held on for the win.

Tallaght Director of rugby Luke Tyrrell was pleased with his team’s comeback. “We started a little slowly and gave Marys too big a lead. But we played a lot better in the second half and could have won it with a little more luck at the end. We need to learn to produce that type of rugby from the start. However there was a lot to be positive about and it was great to see former players like Derek Bruke and Dave Kelly back playing again.”
