Tallaght took on second placed Greystones in the women’s league Division 4. Greystones scored the first try of the match after ten minutes when they got in after consistent pressure. They converted it too to take a 7-0 lead. However Tallaght hit back straight away with a contender for try of the season from scrum-half Caoimhe Hogan. From a scrum inside the Greystones half she made a break and showed great footwork to break three tackles on the way to a sensational try. She missed the chance to convert her own try but it made the score 7-5 and that was the score at half-time.

In the second half Greystones kept coming at Tallaght but the likes of Ashling “Ash Smash” Pyke, Megan Fogarty and Karen Corrigan kept coming up with big tackles to save the day. Tallaght had their chances too but lacked a bit of composure when they got close to the Greystones line. Eventually Greystones broke away for a try to make it 14-5 and that was the final score but Tallaght kept fighting to the end and Greystones left the pitch knowing they had been in a serious game.

Tackle coach Adam Nolan was delighted with his team’s performance. “When we went down to Greystones earlier in the season they put over seventy points on us. Today they could only score two tries and we probably left a few behind us. That’s because of the effort we made in defence so I’m very proud of our squad today. Several players put their hands up for it but the player of the match is Caoimhe Hogan who scored a superb try, made countless tackles and also snagged a couple of turnovers. Last week and this week we played the top two teams in the league and we showed we can compete with them. We hope the confidence we take from this will help us finish the season strongly.”
