John Madden Cup (J4)
Tymon Park
10/09/16

Tallaght Rugby’s men’s team got their season off to a perfect start with a first ever win over Malahide RFC in the John Madden Cup at Tymon Park. Tallaght started the game poorly, conceding two soft tries to let Malahide race into a 10-0 lead. However once Tallaght got their game going they dominated the rest of the half scoring five tries without reply from Malahide. The game’s two dominant figures Adam Nolan and Simon Collie scored two tries each and Emil Wyrebiak got the other one. Morgan Farrell was managing the game nicely at out-half and he tacked on three conversions to give Tallaght a commanding lead of 31-10 at half-time. Tallaght kept the pressure on and Collie and Nolan completed their hat-tricks in the second half before Malahide got a couple of consolation tries. However the most popular score was the last one as John Cowan came off the bench to score his first try for Tallaght. Farrell converted all second half tries for a final score of 52-20. Tallaght advance to the semi-final where they’ll play Railway Union next week, again in Tymon Park.
