Tallaght 3
Penalty: Rob Hudson
Lansdowne 33
O’Connor Cup
Tymon Park
12/04/2025
Tallaght took on Lansdowne in the second round of the O’Connor Cup in Tymon Park.
Tallaght took the lead with a Rob Hudson penalty but Lansdowne hit back with three converted tries to lead 21-3 at half-time. Tallaght weren’t helped by several injuries to the likes of Rob Hudson, Mark Curley, Ruairi O’Donoghue and Daragh Hosey and physio Daragh Mulligan was as busy as ever. Lansdowne scored two more tries in the second half and converted one of them to make the final score 33-3 and bring Tallaght’s season to an end.
Head coach Adam Nolan was disappointed in the result but proud of his team’s effort. “It wasn’t our day and Lansdowne were the better side. They had some really good players, especially for a Division 8 side. We kept trying but couldn’t create enough chances to be in with a shout. I want to thank all the players and coaches for their efforts in what’s been a difficult season. If we’re honest, we need to work harder on and off the field next season. We often joke that Daragh is the hardest working physio in the league. Part of that is players not being fit enough to play eighty minutes of rugby. We made Daragh man of the match today in recognition of his incredible work helping the lads over the season. On the way to the match today, Daragh was driving past Tallaght stadium and noticed a man passed out on the ground. He stopped and applied first aid to the man, called an ambulance and waited until it arrived. That’s just typical of who Daragh is and why the club is so lucky to have him around.”
