Fifth placed Tallaght took on first placed Clontarf in Metro Division 6. The game was moved to the home of Clontarf, Castle Avenue at Tallaght’s request.
Clontarf showed their class to race into a 31-0 lead but Tallaght kept fighting and after a strong run by Jordan Corrigan, skipper Alan Sower got the ball down over the line. Rob Hudson kicked the conversion to make the half-time score 31-7.
In the second half Clontarf kept up their scoring despite suffering two yellow cards in quick succession for yellow cards. Tallaght did keep going though and Rob Hudson got over for two tries in a 67-17 final scoreline.
Tallaght head coach Adam Nolan was happy his team kept fighting to the end. “Clontarf are a strong side who look favourites to win the league. It was a tough night but I asked the lads to keep fighting to the end and they did that. We have one more league fixture away to Blackrock in a few weeks time, but our focus is really on Old Wesley in the Winters Cup on the 6th of April.”
