Tallaght women took on Kilkenny in Division 3 in Tymon Park.

The first half was hard going as neither team scored a point as the ball hardly left the ten metres either of the halfway line. Roisin Ni Uileagoid made a couple of decent breaks for Tallaght and Orlaith Plunkett, Lorraine McManus and Nicole Fanning were making plenty of fine tackles.

In the second half Kilkenny found some cracks in the Tallaght defence and scored three tries. All three tries were expertly converted to make the final score 21-0 to Kilkenny.

Tallaght Head Coach Andy Grace commended his side’s effort but knows improvement is needed. “It’s a bank holiday weekend and the Leinster branch insist the women have to play, when the lads aren’t normally asked to. But I’m really grateful to our team some of whom cancelled plans and togged out. The team is very upset and disappointed not to score today. But I couldn’t fault any of them for their effort or the guts they showed in defence, we just weren’t as clinical as we needed to be when we had the ball. It’s up to the coaches and the players to work hard in training to get our attacking game going again, because we know there is tries in this team.”
