Tallaght took on the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in Division 8 of the Metro League in Tymon Park. It was Tallaght’s first game of the year since the Christmas break and they started a little slowly. RCSI took the lead with a penalty to go 3-0 up.

Tallaght started to carry strongly though and after a good break from Rob Hudson, Jordan Corrigan powered through several tackles and offloaded superbly for Darryl Maxwell to score a fine try. Raheel Hussain kicked the conversion to give Tallaght a 7-3 lead. Thing got better for Tallaght when after constant forward pressure, Hussain scored a try from close range to make it 12-3. But RCSI bounced back well and scored a try before half-time to make it 12-8.

Unfortunately for Tallaght, this was a portent for things to come in the second half. RCSI scored a try to take the lead, added a penalty and then scored another try for a deserved 21-12 win. Tallaght simply couldn’t get anything going in the second half and they’ll need to bounce back next week away to the Dogos.
