Try: Michelle Tyrell, Lisa Maguire 3, Louise O’Loughlin,
Con: Louise O’Loughlin

Leinster Division 4 Development Section B
20/10/13

Tallaght rugby womens team followed up their draw against Unidare last with their first win of the season. Tallaght scored two tries in the first half though Michelle Tyrell and Lisa “Legs” Maguire. The pack was going very well led by a typically hard-working display from hooker Lisa Kelly, who left her friend’s Hen night at an ungodly hour in Carlingford to drive to the match. In the second row Catherine Murphy and Martina Fitzmaurice were an effective partnership, with Murphy doing a lot of the graft work and Fitzmaurice running the lineout with aplomb.

In the second half Louise O’Loughlin scored a try which she converted and then Maguire scored two more tries to complete her hat-trick. The fact that Tallaght conceded no points was in a large part due to the superb defensive display of Danielle Valentine at full back. Playing alongside her sister Rachel in the back three, she made some big hits to hold the Tallaght line. Maire Gilbourne captained the team astutely and Louise O’Loughlin showed her value on her comeback from injury.

Hat-trick hero Maguire wanted to thank the people who travelled to Wicklow to support them. “It really meant a lot to us to have people shouting for us and I think that reflected in the performance. Thanks to all that travelled and hopefully we’ll keep our winning run going in two weeks against CYM”.
