Fifth placed Tallaght took third placed Barnhall in Metro Division 6 in a game moved to Maynooth University. With three players dropping out on morning of the game Tallaght only had 17 players. Against the likely league champions it did turn out to be a tough day scoreline wise.

However this was the sixth week in a row Tallaght were in action and unlike several teams in this division, they have been able to name a team each weekend. It’s meant that barring a very unlikely set of results, they’ll retain their place in the Division 6.

Tallaght head coach Adam Nolan was realistic about the outcome. “We were stretched for players already and then three more pulled out on the morning of the game. But the lads kept fighting throughout and it was great to see Luke Worrall go well in his first start for the club and Anthony Gaffney make his debut off the bench. Alex Sadiku hurt his shoulder but he stayed on and kept putting in big tackles so he’s out man of the match today. I want to thank all the lads who came out today and they can enjoy a well earned Christmas break and we’ll regroup in the new year”.
